Thanksgiving 11/21/12

Sue and I were up at 7:00am to get the turkey going for our Thanksgiving celebration. I used the way Chef James Haller at the famous Blue Strawberry restaurant in Portsmouth taught me many, many years ago. Gary wasn't able to come but Marissa arrived around 9:15am and we had a nice chat with her. Colin and his girl friend Lauren arrived shortly after.

Unfortunately, Ren wasn't feeling good and Colin had to actually take her into the emergency room Friday morning. Sue was working but I drove over to the hospital and sat with Colin until Ren was released. And then after working on my car Saturday morning, he got home and she was in so much pain that he took her back to the hospital. And Sunday morning he took her back again, though this time she was admitted. She had a cat scan that showed a nasty intestinal infection. So, their Thanksgiving was pretty trashed. But we were fortunate that she and Colin and Marissa were able to spend a few hours with us Thursday.

After driving down Monday afternoon to look for a winter coat for Sue at the Kittery Trading Post in Kittery, ME, Sue and I went up to the hospital to see Ren. Though looking much better than I had seen her Friday, she was still in a lot of discomfort. More tests to come, thoguh she hopes her stay won't be too long.

Monday, the electric company shut the power off at the condo project so when we got home from visiting Ren at the hospital, it was chilly and getting dark inside the condo. Sue lit some candles and poured us some wine, which we took into the living room and played several sets of backgammon until the power came back on about 5:30pm.
