01/07/24: Major 12 Inch Snow Storm

Sunday 01/07/24 we got hit with a major 12 inch snow storm.

It was so spectacular, that I tagged along with Sue and Beau snowshoeing through the woods behind the house.

We had headed out late morning with about 5 inches of snow on the ground, and the wind just starting to pick up. We knew the storm would be a hard one, and so we didn't want to be out in the woods when it was really bad.

Instead, we had a nice mile or so adventure, came back to warm up by the wood stove, grabbed some coffee, and plopped down on the sofa to catch up on some reading.

Knowing the storm was coming, I hauled in a few full carts of wood for the stove the day before.

Sue could not get Beau to break the trail for her, so she just pressed on through the drifts with him on her heels.

I bundled up a good as I could because the wind was biter cold.

I got this nice shot of the back of the house as I came down from the first ridge trail.

The new snow gauge Sue had bought to replace the 'Famous Snow Depth Chair' showing 12 inches.

Marissa sent this great picture of Maisie staring out of their front window at the storm outside. She was mystified.

Though the guys that plow for me also shovel, I spent a couple of hours Monday morning after the storm clearing off "Beau's car", as well as shoveling out 3 feet of snow drop from off the metal roof in the front of the house, back around the kitchen, and along the side of the screen porch. Hot shower and onto an Advil drip followed by hot coffee after.
