10/13/20: 3rd Anniversary

Though it had rained all night, the view out back to the woods was just spectacular. A wonderful way to start off our 3rd anniversary celebration.

We just had a really relaxing day, and then settled into a fun evening of backgammon, and then fixing seared scallops served with a parsley and chive cream sauce over pasta, with a side of sage steamed asparagus.

Sue Fixed Denise's bacon topped cream cheese spread as an appetizer while we played some backgammon. Because of the dampness in the air, I started our first fire in the wood stove, and then popped open what turned out to be a nice bottle of J. Lohr Sauvignon Blanc.

We topped off the evening watching the wonderful 1981 Katharine Hepburn, and Henry Fonda movie, On Golden Pond. I've watched that movie at this time of the year since probably the late 80s. It's probably tied for 1st place on my most favorite movie list. Sue had made a special apple crisp desert from some of the apples we had picked during our visit to the Miller Farm 10/04/20.

What a spectacular late Fall morning it was Tuesday 10/13/20 as I peeked outside at the long needed rain showers that had been going on all night.

First fire in the wood stove of the season! Really took the dampness out of the air, and put such a wonderful warm glow to the living room while we played backgammon.

And yes, it tasted as good as it looks!

One of my favorite scenes from the movie On Golden Pond is where Henry Fonda first comes into the cabin — I just love the look and feel of that cabin. It's soooo New England, and embodies the entire spirit of The Lakes Region that we are so happy to live in. In fact, on one of our earlier Fall foliage drives this year, we were drove up around the Squam Lake area.
