03/23/20: Spring Snow Storm

Wow! Monday night 03/23/20 we got absolutely hammered with a huge Spring snow storm.

In preparation for the storm, Sunday I cooked steak with vegetables over rice for our dinner while Sue made up a bunch of Cake Pops for her aunt Carols birthday Monday.

Monday 03/23/20 the day started out beautifully as we got some lovely pictures of Mia playing outside. We then took a drive up to visit Sue's aunt Carol in Ossipee as it was her birthday. Because of the COVID-19 virus evolving, we only stood on her porch and talked briefly with her.

Before heading for home, we stopped off at her brother Alan's and did the same distance visit with him.

The storm didn't start until early evening, but when it did, it came heavy! We enjoyed it with a little Carlo Rossi Piasano to go with the spaghetti tonight. It snowed all night long, and was piled up around 8 inches by Tuesday morning the 24th when we got up.

The plow guy came mid morning Tuesday, and then Sue and I went out to do the walkways and in front of the barn. But that was it as it would probably all be melted off in a couple of days.

Shot of the barn trying to get the falling snow as it was so heavy, but didn't seem to come out as dramatically as it was coming down.

Late afternoon, Monday and it's really coming down hard. You can see the snow piling up around our 'Snow Chair' that we use to measure the depth. It's creeping up to the first horizontal supports — those are 6 inches off the ground....

Sue got this night shot, and you can see it's pretty brutal out there. The back barn lights must have been triggered by a deer or some other animal.

But by morning the storm had passed and it was actually sunny out!

If you look closely, you'll see the snow still embedded into the screens from the wind.

I got this terrific picture from the bathroom over the claw foot tub of the snow still piled on top of the bushes outside the window.
